Hand Crafting your Own Altar Brooms

with Amy Lou Taylor

Amy Lou Taylor, Broomsquire and Witch, is your instructor for the course. She comes from a traditional witchcraft background where she was taught to make her own tools, or at the very least engage with tool makers who are experienced in their craft.

She has made many tools in the past, many brooms, wands, altars, candles and the like. The most satisfying by far for her is making brooms and whisks. This is why she incorporated them into her business as they have long been a part of her practice, both mundane and magickally speaking.

When we craft our own tools, we can imbue them with our intention, our purpose and our needs. A turkey wing whisk for example, is a tool that is used in several different ways, from cleaning up crumbs, dust, shavings etc to moving energy, smoke, air. It also at times can be used as an aspergillum for waters.

In this three hour class you will learn how to craft your own simple hand-broom and Turkey Wing whisks while learning some of the history behind the designs, and the uses of these versatile tools. You also will have an opportunity to imbue your whisk with your own magickal intent and purpose, especially since we will be crafting our brooms while the lunar cycle is waxing towards full. A perfect time to birth brooms into the world.

By the end of the course, you will walk away with an understanding of simple broom magick as well as TWO, made by YOU whisks.

Space is limited to 12 people. Your investment is $100+HST

Your class fee includes all the supplies needed for the course. Please note that this will be a physical activity using core muscles as well as upper body and arm strength, so dress in comfortable clothing (like leggings, jeans or yoga pants), as well as wear soft soled shoes or be prepared to work barefoot. Amy will have some charms and other items you can use to decorate your brooms if you would like, but if you have something specific, bring it along and we can see if it can be added into your broom.
