SUMMARY:Cards and Connection: A Queer Tarot Gathering
DESCRIPTION:What’s better than tarot? Tarot AND queer community—and this event has both! Hosted by Understory and Andrew McGregor of The Hermit’s Lamp\, this event is a chance to explore the tarot\, meet other people who love to read cards\, and grow your skill in a supportive and safe space. \nWhether you’re just starting your first deck or have years of experience\, this evening is for ALL levels. Just bring yourself and your cards\, and be ready to have fun. \nWhat is it going to look like in practice?  \nAndrew (any pronouns) will be your host for the evening. He has been working with Tarot since 1986 and has been a full time reader since 2000. He has written three books and published five decks. Traveling all around the world to teach\, he has also run his Toronto store\, The Hermit’s Lamp\, since 2008. With years of experience\, he has a deep love of teaching and sharing tarot with others. \nAs a group\, participants will discuss what they hope to learn from the evening based on their goals. Andrew will help guide readings\, build tarot spreads\, and teach new techniques. They’ll be around to drop in and answer questions\, share stories\, and support your tarot journey. \nThis is a community event. We ask that you please show up with an open heart\, a willingness to share (whatever your level)\, and a deep respect for other people’s journeys. \nThursday September 24th\, 2026 – 7pm-9:30pm \nCost is $17 plus HST\nClick here to register. \nThis space is accessible. Limited sponsored spots available drop Andrew a line at andrew @ thehermtslamp.com \nThis is a monthly event. \nAbout the event space. \nUnderstory is a trans-owned and operated coffee shop and wine bar located at 505 Church St (at Wellesley). It has been intentionally created and designed as a quieter\, joyful third space where authenticity and connection are encouraged. Your ticket will include a free drink (non-alcoholic or a glass of house wine). The bar will be open for further purchases. \nWhat if I am a total beginner?  \nWe all started in a similar place: With a fresh deck and a book to help us interpret our readings. The wonderful thing about the tarot community is they love to share. After all\, the more readers\, the more fun. So be assured you will be welcome! \nWhat should I bring? \nBring your cards\, a notebook\, and whatever you might like to share.

SUMMARY:Tarot Card Reading Class for Beginners in Toronto
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to start your tarot journey? This class is for you. You’ll learn everything you need to start reading with confidence. \nWe’ll focus on three main areas. \n\nThe structure of the tarot and how to start reading using the art\, basic number and suit associations\, and intuition.\nThe power of questions to give amazing readings.\nHow to work with tarot spreads to put it all together.\n\nIn this 4 hours workshop you’ll not only lean the tools but put them together to start giving readings. You will get clear about how to work with a persons question to get them helpful and insightful answers. And you’ll learn tools to help you fall back on so you can trust the process too. \nWhat will you learn?\nLearning tarot should be fun and enjoyable! Everybody has the innate ability to learn what the cards mean and how to put those meanings together into a reading for others. This course will have something to offer everyone at every level. With the rise of visual literacy\, through social media\, it has never been easier. In this class we’ll focus on getting you reading. Not some day in the future but in the actual class itself. \nWe will cover:\n\nWhat the cards mean.\nTools that don’t rely on memorization.\nHow to ask useful questions.\nWhat’s real and what is superstition around tarot.\nA spread you can use to answer any questions or give general reading.\nWhen to trust your gut and when not to.\nPitfalls to avoid.\nLots of practice time.\n\nWhen and where?\nSeptember 19th\, 2026. From 11-3pm.\nAt the Hermit’s Lamp Studio\n276 Carlaw Ave unit 209B\n(Leslieville)\nCost $75 \nRegister here. \nWhat do I know about tarot?\nI got my first tarot deck in 1986 as a gift from my grandmother. Spending time studying\, meeting experts and practicing with others who love tarot over the years. In 2000 I started working as a full time tarot reader. Reading for thousands of people over the years. Along the way I also wrote 3 books on reading tarot and published 5 oracle/tarot decks. I’ve also taught around the world . More than just knowledge though I work to make tarot accessible and fun to learn. It is not as hard as you think an dthe journey will be fun. \nThis class is focused on practical reading skills. Come learn in a supportive environment and get all your questions answered. Digital booklet of meanings included for future reference. Bring your deck and note pad. As well as lots of question you can get readings on to help others learn. \nFAQ\nDo I need to own a deck? A deck is not included. You can buy one through my website and pick it up at the event. Or bring your own. \nDoes it matter what deck I use? All tarot is good tarot. So if you have a deck you love that is great. It just needs to have the standard 78 cards in it. This workshop is not deck specific. \nWhat if I have never touched a deck before? This class is perfect for you. Please come join us. \nI have been working with tarot but feel feel stuck – will the help me? This class is great for anyone who wants to get fluent with their deck and make it speak. \nIs this a spiritual approach or a practical one? There is no belief system required to attend this workshop. It will help you where you are at and with what you believe. For me the cards encompass all aspects of life and we’ll touch on both spiritual and practical appraches. \nWill I really be able to do readings after this? You will definitely be able to do readinsg after this. That said I have been reading for 40 years and continue to grow as a reader so there is always more to learn if you are excited about it.
